fiction: Sahrian

Author's Note: This is the beginnings of a piece of fiction inspired by The Narnia Chronicles, Alice in Wonderland and the film Labyrinth. It is intended for Children/Young Adults, and I hope to illustrate a few pictures for the piece as well. It is still yet another work in progress - called Sahrian.

Sahrian
- A Story about a Fantastical Realm -

There was a room at my grandad’s house that had always intrigued me as a child. If you took the second right turn from the front hall and then followed that hallway all the way along to the staircase at the end and then walked all the way up to the second landing you’d find a statue of a woman holding a cat... fiction: Ludwig Castle

Author's Note: This is only an extract from a fictional piece, called Ludwig Castle, in progress.

Ludwig Castle
Prologue: View Within

In our mother’s hospital room there were no windows, only a small oil painting of mares feeding alongside a dam. The picturesque landscape rolled out into the distance drawing the viewer into its depth, I sometimes found myself sitting amongst those wild grasses.. Read more... ) ... to be continued.

poem: Eulogy for Grandma

Tash's Eulogy for Grandma

You had the kindest of hearts, the gentlest of souls.
You were always ready to give, but never willing to receive.
You seemed small and fragile, yet you were so independant.

We rode on buses together - Tuesdays, every fortnight.
I'd meet your friends, that you forget I'd already met.
You'd discuss ideas for lunch - and everyone knew the menu.
I used to giggle when the bus turned a corner,
as you always slid against me.
We'd part our ways at times but always meet over coffee.
And then we would be back on the bus and heading home for lunch.
The best part of the menu was always dessert -
there was more then one thing we had in common.
We'd watch tellie as the afternoon sun streamed through the windows,
as I'd wait for my ride home I'd play the piano and sometimes I'd sing.
It was these moments that we both enjoyed the most.
Tuesdays slowly became further and further apart as my life changed.
There no longer came the asking of lunches or the meeting over coffee.
No more did we ride your Tuesday bus together.
But I still played for you. I would always play the piano and sing.
Even on my 21st Birthday, in the Barossa, I played, and amazingly you were there.
That was when you decided to adopt the title of Lady Penelope.
I remember the day you met Dave, and how welcoming you were,
he made you laugh and reminisce.
I didn't get to see you as often any more, but we made the most of when we could.
You had a collection of cassettes - Tash's piano playing, that I had made.
Though there was one tape you were never able to hear,
I know you will be listening and standing alongside as I play over the years.
So it is to you I write this last tribute, and with musical notes it will oneday be,
played without watching my fingers, as I compose in amazement you'll see.

Love Always
Tash

poem: a tribute

A Tribute

for

Penelope Nadine Livingstone

He gave you wings,
to help you fly.
He gave you strength,
to reach His sky.
Beyond the last ray of light,
there is no need to cease this flight.
You are free now, free to fly,
beyond the dawn of tomorrow's sky.
He has helped you escape -
the solitude and the pain.
He is your beloved,
and together you shall forever remain;
in your Castle.
Your Castle in the clouds.
In loving memory of our Lady Penelope.

By Tash, your granddaughter.

life quote: no one like you

(I am now 12w5d along.)

Never compare yourself with anybody else. You are what you are. Nobody is like you. Nobody can act your part as you can.
